Skill and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development for any country. In India, the illiterate and literate up to the primary level of education constitute a very high proportion of the existing workforce. While on the one hand, the level of education attainment of the existing workforce is very low, the educated, without professional skills, on the other hand constitute 69 percent of the total unemployed. According to the eleventh five year plan of India, only 10% of the Indian workforce has formal training in the form of higher education, technical education or vocational training. India currently has an annual training capacity of 4.3 million people. This is less than 20% of the industry requirement of 22 million skilled workers a year.
The accelerated economic growth has increased the demand for skilled persons that has highlighted the shortage of skilled persons in India; the difficulty to fill up the jobs was 48% which was above the global standard of 34%in 2012. The lack of available applicants, shortage of suitable employability, including soft skills etc are some of the key reasons for the differently in finding suitable candidates for available jobs in the country.
Bastar Dharma Kshema Samiti (BDKS) from the very beginning has focused its attention on providing skill training for the tribal youth of Bastar.. Since the inception, it has been responding to challenges and growing opportunities for economic expansion and job creation, by promoting skill training among the underprivileged school dropout tribal youth. It aims to improve the skilled human potential of the country by increasing the standard of skill training building a resource base for skill training and helping the youth get a sustainable income for improving their standard of living. At present BDKS provides skill training in various domains, and more than 350 students are getting regular training.
Along with skill training FVTRS provides entrepreneurship training to become entrepreneurs. Last 10 years BDKS Trained more than 3000 youth in various skills.
