Health is an important determinant of the well-being of any community. Only a healthy nation can be a developed nation. Health is considered one of the essential elements of human development and progress. India has the second largest tribal population in the world. In Chhattisgarh 31.8% are tribals. In the case of Bastar division 70% people are belong to Tribal community. Tribal populations are one of the most socio-economically deprived sections. Because of its vulnerability and deprived condition, tribal population faces a lot of problems of varied aspects in which health is one of the significant issues that makes them more vulnerable and deprived.
Tribal health is in the state of continuous debate and deliberation over a period of time. Tribal health is considered a very crucial way to understand the living pattern of indigenous people. Tribal health is in bad shape and condition in the tribal region.Tribal population in the country is one of the most vulnerable and marginalized section and has been in the continuous state of ignorance and negligence. The socioeconomic condition along with poor health and sanitation condition makes it more vulnerable and susceptible to disaster and change. Tribal health and health care facilities available in the tribal areas of the country is limited. Even in the modern time, Bastar region tribal people not in mood of accepting modern medicine. So, there is a need for comprehensive health policy to meet the health requirement for the indigenous population of the tribal region. It is felt that there should be a comprehensive and national level health policy to mitigate the problems of health among the tribal population. It is need of the hour to have a comprehensive national policy on tribal health to address the issues related to health and its correlates in the country. We the BDKS trying to provide better health facilities to tribal people by providing awareness programmes on government benefit like mother and child programme, health cheek up programme etc. BDKS also initiated with help of other donors a nutritious programme for pregnant women. We also support for the kitchen garden so that they can cultivate and use nutritious food for the family.
BDKS promote health facilities in various level, grass root level provides awareness programme, linkage with government schemes. In the middle level we provide health care facilities, trainings etc. topper level we are running mini hospitals for the people. During pandemic covid -19 BDKS actively involved in taking care of the sick.
